Mario
Ponta (born in Asti, northern Italy ) studied cinema and photography at
the University of Lyon. He works as a freelance photographer, doing
reportages in Japan, India, Korea and Sierra Leone. In recent years he
has started directing and producing documentaries. Some of his
productions are:
“The Making of Streetlight”, a documentary about a
musical;
“Un Rayon pour le futur”, on the development of
laser technologies
for industry (a prize winner at the Nancy Scientific Film Festival);
“Monks of Today”, on a Cistercian monastry in Rome.
His
latest documentary production is about his hometown of Asti, directed
and produced by Mario himself. He lives in Paris.

Ponta (né à Asti au Piemont en Italie) a étudié le cinéma et la photo à
l’université Lumière (Lyon). Il travaille comme photographe freelance,
réalisant des reportages au Japon, en Inde, en Corée, en Sierra Leone
entre autres. Depuis 1997 il réalise aussi des documentaires.
